Trees in my backyard

In my backyard I have two trees right outside my dining room.  Of course, when we first moved in I thought, "what boring green trees we have to look at each time we eat dinner."  Well, with the combination of lots of rain and gorgeous sunny days, the trees bloomed.  One Tuesday afternoon I realized the tree directly outside my dining room, is no longer green, but white!  The tree next to it, has yellow bulbs.  They sure are gorgeous now!!!

I live for SUNFLOWERS!

I took a trip to my parents house in L.A. this March.  I miss them so much!!!  While there, I noticed that my dad has the most beautiful sunflowers in the front yard and back yard.  I had to have the same.  My dad gave me seeds that I have finally planted.  My little babies are growing!!!!!

My Begonia's

I have found a new sense of respect for Begonia's.  I thought that they were flimsy little flowers, it turns out that they are pretty tough.  :)  I love their soft look, but hard feel.  They have such beautiful pink - shimmery petals.  The leaves are very hardy.  Grandma really likes Begonia's, too.

Spanish Lavender

Mom came to visit us one weekend!  It was so much fun to have her at our new house.  For a couple of days she took off to Orcas Island for some R&R.  Upon her return, she brought me this beautiful bush, Spanish Lavender.  Everyday when I come home, I always steel a rub from this beautiful plant.  It smells soooo good!  Once it has grown, I plan to cut some limbs and dry them for a basket of potpourri.  :)

The final creation!

Once the soil was cleaned, fertilized and watered - it was time for my little flowers to go in!  The new look outside of my living room window is
maw-ve-lous!!!

Cleaning the flower box

Cleaning the flower box was a lot of work.  I had no idea how long those greens had been there, or even what they were.  I didn't like the idea of not knowing what kind of insects were there, but I sure did find a lot of them.  Spiders, worms and other little creatures were coming out.  This was not fun at all. :)

First Project

In front of my living window is this great flower box.  I thought it would be the best way to plant my first flowers.  It is west facing, so it gets a lot of sun during most of the day.  I had to be sure to look for flowers with "full sun" on the label.
